Marianna Kulukundis is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and Central Saint Martins. After graduating from RISD, she briefly stepped away from fine art to pursue a career as an actress and producer. However, a chance request to design a friend’s wedding invitation brought her back to her love of painting and drawing. Emboldened by the growing demand for her work, she launched her illustration career.
A Greek, born and raised in London, Marianna spent many years in New York before returning full circle to the city where it all began. Her sensibility—shaped by her Greek roots, British upbringing, and years spent living in New York—continues to inform her aesthetic. You’ll find smatterings of Britishness, a touch of New York energy, and plenty of Greek motifs in her work—especially her recurring use of the Evil Eye, a symbol of luck and protection, which has appeared on everything from painted pebbles to fabrics, wallpapers, and homewares. Now back in London, she’s starting a new chapter—drawing on everything that’s shaped her, with fresh creative energy.
Trained as a fine artist, Marianna works across disciplines—her practice spans painting, surface pattern, illustration, and design. Known for her colorful, whimsical style, her work has appeared on everything from bespoke stationery and art prints to fabric, homewares, and wallpaper. Her first ceramic plate designs were created for an event to benefit animal conservation hosted by the then HRH Prince of Wales. One personal highlight was seeing her Leopards at Play pattern featured on a London taxi to mark the launch of Arabian Leopard: Treasures of AlUla by Assouline, where her leopards also frolic across the book’s endpapers.
Clients include Missoma, Charriol, Elephant Family charity, Sisley Paris, Original Senses, La Ligne, Assouline, and Chase Travel (JPMorgan Chase).
Marianna is currently working on new collaborations that will feature her designs on printed tablecloths, napkins, and wallpaper. She is also developing her own line of homewares and prints that reflect her signature playful, artful style.
She is always open to new commissions and creative partnerships.
